Alex Ravenfeather and Robert Spalding
Blending traditional Native American flute music with a wide range of modern musical genres including, jazz, folk, pop, rock, blues, country, new age and world, Ravenfeather and Spalding takes a minimalist approach (wood flute, acoustic guitar and/or acoustic piano with or without vocals) to create a truly unique musical style which transcends categorization and that has been warmly received by listeners of all ages and walks of life.
Alex Ravenfeather (Cherokee/adopted Lakota) and Duke Spalding (Cherokee) began their collaboration in the summer of 2004 and have been performing to appreciative audiences soon thereafter. They have performed at Native American powwows and gatherings, at fine dining establishments, at the 14th and 15th Annual “Dinner In The Canyons” benefiting the Agua Caliente Cultural Museum and were the featured performers at the grand opening of the Palm Springs Convention Center. In the spring of 2006, they were asked to provide the entertainment for the very first official visit by the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation to the Central California Cherokee community.
